Medical Drones in Healthcare in India

Apollo Tele Health Services (http://www.apollotelehealth.com/) in conjunction with National Design Research Forum, a unit of the institution of the engineers (http://ndrf.res.in/) organized a 2-day conference on “Futuristic Healthcare: Emerging: Telemedicine & Medical Drones”. The conference was well attended with engineers, scientists, technologists, transplant surgeons and telehealth specialists participating. The challenges in organ preservation and transport were addressed. Prof K Ganapathy spoke on the future of telemedicine and Prof Thais Russomano spoke on the deployment of technology in space medicine. There was a full session dedicated to the use of drones in emergency medical care. Dr Russell Andrews through Video Conferencing from California spoke on Drones in Disaster management. Following a panel discussion and close interaction with the attendees, it was decided to form an SIG (Special Interest Group) to start working on the possibility of making available medical drones to facilitate remote healthcare. And the important event was signing of an MoU between ATHS & InnovaSpace.
